Open House this Wednesday

This year, we have changed the format of our Student Led Conferences.  Instead of specific meetings, we have decided to host an Open House on Wednesday, April 29th from 2:30 - 6:30.  It will give you a chance to see some of your child's work, discuss their goals, and even do some math with them!  Thursday will also be an early dismissal day (2:00pm).  We will be having private, one-on-one meetings on that day.  We hope to see you Wednesday!

Things are heating up!

Things are starting to heat up in Division 2!  ACE Reports continue into their third cycle. Novel study is also in full swing.  Students should be reading for 20-30 minutes every night.  All students have a schedule they need to be following to stay on track.  Some students are ahead and have even started their final project.  We will also be starting a science project in the next couple weeks and there is a French project in the future.  It's important for kids to stay on top of things now.  Everyone should be doing 30 minutes of homework every day, with a max of 60 min.  Stay organized and reach out to your teachers if you are feeling overwhelmed.

Optimistic Easter

Hope everyone had a great long weekend!  Last week in Health and Career Education, we discussed Optimism.   The newest research shows that pessimistic thinkers are unable to access their prefrontal cortex fully, because those negative thoughts engage the amygdala.  This term, we are going to focus on positive self-talk, and thinking on the bright side of things - practicing optimism.  Try it for a week, and you will see the difference!  Here's a little song that really fits our view of learning in Division 2:  The Power of Yet
