Wow & Report Card Dates

You have amazing children!  Both the Jubilee camp staff and the Wolfe teachers would agree.  The kids were kind, respectful, and willing to try new things.  We were so impressed and had a truly enjoyable experience.  Everyone had a chance to shine in new ways and hang out with new people.  If the rest of the year is anything like camp, it's going to be incredible!   We will share our photos soon.

Also, as you may know, Wolfe is part of the new reporting pilot project.  Part of that project is that teachers get to choose when reports go home, and when conferences are scheduled.  Miss Kelly and I have confirmed the following dates:

Nov. 6 & 7 Goal Setting Conferences
Jan. 25 First Report Card
Apr. 17 Student Led Conferences
Jun. 27 Final Report

Please update your calendars.  More details will follow as we get closer to each date!

Finally, don't forget the Walkathon tommorow.  Our theme is "Just out of bed!"

Thurs, Sept. 20 - First Friday Folder

The first Friday Folder went home today.  There are a couple notices in it, one student reflection sheet, and the Bi-Weekly Progress Report.  If there are no marks on the Bi-Weekly Progress Report, your child had an amazing week!  Please sign inside the Friday Folder and on the Bi-Weekly Progress Report.  We'd also love your comments (if you have any) on the student reflection sheet.  Maybe even ask your child to show you some of the math games we explored over the last two weeks.  The folders are usually returned the following Monday, but due to camp, we will collect them on Thursday.

Also, please note that the Camp Parent Package mentions that students need lunch.  We have asked the kids to not bring any food at all to avoid attracting critters, so instead lunch will be provided by the camp.

Looking forward to Monday, bright and early (7:30-7:45)!  If you have any final questions or concerns about camp, feel free to send us an email!

Wed, Sept. 19 - Camp Reminders

Camp is fast approaching, and if you haven't started thinking about packing now is the perfect time.  For another copy of the packing list, check out p. 2 &3 of the Parent Info Package.  Students will need a separate bag of toiletries and other items that cannot be heat treated.

Also a reminder about medicine and vitamins.  Students are not allowed to administer their own medicine or vitamins.  This includes non-prescription medications like allergy pills, pain relievers, or vitamins.  All medicines and vitamins must be labelled and given to Ms. Husdon before boarding the bus Monday morning.  She will help remind and administer the medication as directed.

The camp received all special dietary issues early last week and has a fantastic menu prepared.  There will be quite a few buffet style options, so please discuss food choices with your child.  There will most likely be both dairy-free and vegetarian options (Halal is not available).  The camp is nut-free.

If you have any questions, please send us an email!  We can help.

Wed, Sept. 12

Lots of notices went home today, including information on our in-timetable band program, on the Book Fair, and on "grad" hoodies.  The grad hoodies are optional and no one should feel pressured to order one.  The Gr. 7 students have been working hard to create designs and will be voting on this year's design on Friday.  All submissions must be to Mrs. Segers tomorrow.  We only have the hoodie sample sizes here until the end of next week, so we will be getting kids to try them on during class time.  If you want to double check your kid's size, feel free to come in before or after school before Sept. 20th.

Welcome to Division 1!

We are so excited to start another new year at General Wolfe.  This year we are a straight grade 7 class, and we are really enjoying getting to know the new kids so far.  This blog is updated with a photo of the homework everyday (hopefully), and there are often little messages, reminders, and other information.  It's a good place to come when you have questions about homework or what is happening in the classroom.

Reminders:

  • The remaining $35 camp money was due last Friday.
  • Camp forms need to be completed and handed in by Wednesday.
  • Meet the Teacher night is Thursday at 6pm.  All the information about the classroom went home in a letter today.  Please read through it and can with questions if you have them.
  • Professional Day on Sept. 21
  • Camp is Sept. 24-26.  Students need to be at school at 7:45 on Monday and will return and need to be picked up Wednesday around 1pm.
Thanks for visiting the blog!
