It’s Winter Break!  Yahoo!  It was a really great first term. We’ve read and shared current events articles, learned about animals and their habitats, wrote essays on important world issues, attended Aqua School, and developed into a strong and caring little community.  After all that work, it’s time for a break!

Miss Kelly and I also want to pass on our appreciation for your generous gifts and all the thoughtful notes.  You really helped brighten our holidays.  Thank you.

In case you want a sneak peek, here’s what January looks like in Div. 1. It’s full of field trips and learning!

Artificial Intelligence Seminar Today

We had the coolest seminar today about Artificial Intelligence!  We learned all about how computers learn, made some connections to the way we learn, and even tried training our own AI bot.  Here's the site we played on today.  It was pretty cool!  Play around with it:

Okay, we are back on track with our blog photos.  Just a reminder that we are collecting winter clothes and new, unwrapped toys for charity this holiday.  Keep bringing them in!  You have until Thursday.

We are also making cards for a various of people who might be lonely this holiday.  Ask your child who their cards are going to (homeless teens, Canadian soldiers, residents of the Downtown Eastside, or seniors living at either Youville or Berkley Care Centres).  If you'd like to contribute a card, please send it in with your child!

Wednesday, Dec. 11

Just a reminder to bring in new unwrapped toys and lightly used winter clothes for charity!  We are collecting until next Thursday.  Also, we are super excited for tomorrow’s Winter Concert!  Students should wear all black with a winter hat and be in the John Oliver theatre at 6:10. Hope to see you then!

Thursday, Dec. 5

As part of our month of Generosity, Division 1 would like to collect gently used or new winter clothing for the homeless of Vancouver.   Please look through your closets and cupboards for anything that looks warm and cozy for Vancouverites living on the street.  Also, Mrs. Segers’ class is collecting toys for children without this year.  We’d love to help them collect new unwrapped toys as well!
