Practice French Body Parts
Lots of work done today for the teachers as we continue to study and set up the new curriculum. We also had a minute to make some French flashcards on the body. Next time we play "Simon dit..." know your stuff!

Body Science Talks
Tomorrow we are very fortunate to have our biennial visit from Saleema Noon's team! It's a great way to kick off our discussions around reproduction, safety, gender, and sexuality. Your child may have some interesting questions for though, so be prepared! All content covered is in the BC curriculum, and each grade will be going separately. We will be revisiting all topics in further detail in class after Spring Break, so don't worry too much if those kind of questions are your thing.
Hopefully you've seen your child reading at home this weekend! Literature circles are in full swing. They are primarily Mondays and Thursdays, so you can count on seeing them at home twice during each week.
You have probably also heard about the Heritage Fair by now. You child will need to narrow down their inquiry question by Thursday. Ask them what they are planning!

My Favourite Time of Year!
It's true... Literature Circle time is my favourite part of the year! Literature Circles are an opportunity for Miss Kelly and I to share some of our favourite novels, to let students talk to one another about what they are reading, and to challenge them to think critically, make connections, and make inferences. It's challenging, but super rewarding for all involved. Students were presented with their novel choices today, and will find out which book and group they are in on Thursday. Please ask your child to show you their schedule and the assignment package then!

Welcome to the New Year!
It was so nice to see everyone back in class today. The break was amazing, and everyone looked rested and relaxed this morning. It was an awesome way to start the new year! We have a lot of great new units on the horizon, including a Historica Fair project in social studies starting later this week.
As always, if you have any questions or concerns, feel free to us! We are here to help.
We are looking forward to continued growth in 2018!
Miss Kelly & Mrs. Soper
