5 More Days of Kindness & Carolling
Hope you got your hug today! It was today's act of kindness. We also started our week of carolling today. Wolfe is so fortunate that Mr. Mathewson is continuing this amazing and unique tradition. It's definitely one of our favourite parts of the year.
Even though the break is looming, there is still lots happening in Division 2. We are continuing to work on our Persuasive Essays in class. They will be completed and handed in on Wednesday. A rough copy of our French scripts are due in class Tuesday where we will have the opportunity to review them. Our math quiz from last week was postponed and will be completed on Wednesday. We will also be working on our Sways in science (due Jan 10th), as well as our Mesopotamia projects.
Just a reminder that our Secret Santa gift exchange will be on Friday. Be sure your child has their gift organised and at school, so no one is left out.
Finally, wishing you and your families an amazing break full of love and laughter!

Winter Concert!
The Winter Concert is this Wednesday and Division 2 will be in it, along with the Choir, Pop Choir, Beginner, and Advanced Bands. The concert starts at 6:30 this year, and we are asking children to arrive and check in with their teacher by 6. They are also asked to wear toques, hats, mitts, etc. as a costume.
Check out our Countdown to the Break/Advent calendar! 16 Acts of Kindness. Hopefully you got to enjoy some of the first 3. Friday's was to clean up your room or unload the dishwasher without begin asked! Division 2 is also continuing to collect food for the Vancouver Foodbank. Thank you to everyone who has already contributed.

There is a short math quiz coming up on Thursday this week (its written on the calendar on Friday by mistake). Also this week is the Gr. 6/7 Holiday dance on Friday. The Humanitarian Club would like each child to bring a donation to the Foodbank as an entrance fee.
Division 2 will also be organizing a gift exchange. Details will be sorted out in class tomorrow, but we encourage all children to participate. It should be student driven and as personal as possible, so try to encourage your child to take the lead on this!

The Countdown to Break is On!
Take a peak at the calendar for December. It's pretty busy, and there is still lots of fun to come! This week, a new group project on Mesopotamia should be coming home for you to review and sign. Please take some time to ask your child to explain their contribution and even consider making a plan of action with them. 15 minutes work everyday should make the project easy work!
Our science inquiry notes are due Tuesday at 3pm. Students have had 2 weeks of class time, so hopefully no one is scrambling at home tonight. We will continue to work on the project in the coming weeks.
We are also still collecting food for the Vancouver Foodbank. If you have a donation, we would love to collect it for you as the kids of Division 2 make a small contribution to ending hunger in our city.
Please note the following upcoming dates.:
Monday, Dec 5th - Professional Day, No School
Wednesday, Dec 7th - Spring Concert, Div. 2 will be performing along with the band and both choirs
Friday, Dec 9th - Report Cards Home
Monday, Dec 12 - Friday, Dec 16 - Carolling in the Halls
Friday, Dec 16th - Last Day of School for the Winter Break

Planetarium Bound
We are so excited to head to the Planetarium tomorrow! Thank you to Trenton's dad, Jack's mom, and Taryn's mom for helping us get there and back. It's a pretty interesting field trip that will fit in well to the kids' Inquiry Questions.
The term ends in two weeks, and so several units are coming to a close, and several new ones are starting. One of the important tests coming up this week, is our final Mad Minute of the term. Kids have a ring with various multiplication facts on it. We encourage kids to spend 5-10 min practicing their multiplication facts each day this week to prepare. There are many Mad Minute websites. They could also use Quizlet or Kahoot to create their own quizzes. Check out the homework board photo tomorrow when I take it! :)
Division 2 will be performing in the Winter Concert on December 7th. Students will need to be at school for the show at 6:30. We would appreciate it, if they could attend. If should be fun!

November Notes
We have lots of things happening in the coming weeks. We have two field trips: the Gr. 7s are heading to Hamber on Wednesday, and we head to the Planetarium on the 22nd. For our field trip on the 22nd, we are still looking for drivers, as well as empty 2L pop bottles for an experiment at the Planetarium.
Division 2 has also decided to collect donations for the Vancouver Food Bank over the next month. We encourage you to ask your child why we are collecting food, and to support their efforts.
Have a wonderful week.
Miss Kelly & Mrs. Soper
