Wow!

Stories, stories, and more stories!  Kids have been reading and writing stories all week.  We have looked at what aspects make them great and now we are going to use that information to make ours better.  In Social Studies, Grade 7s have begun "The Day I Was Born" project.  Parents should have signed the project outline. Gymnastics start this week as well!  We are so excited to have this opportunity.  It should be fun!

Don't forget the Walkathon this Friday as well.  And thank you for raising money for a new playground at Wolfe!

Community Building

Today was a pretty great way to end the summer.  It was even nice enough to have music outside!

This week in Division 2, we are continuing to get to know each other.  We are sharing things we enjoy and dislike.  We are discussing connections we've made to stories we are reading in class; and the Grade 7s have even begun a project based on the day they were born.

Part of getting to know each other, is getting to know ourselves.  We will be practicing Mindfulness on regular basis and talking about how our brains work.  Miss Kelly and I encourage you to read about Mindfulness and perhaps even discuss it at home.  This article is a great start!

Welcome Back 2015

Back to school already!?  Summer always seems way to short and at the same, way time too long... Miss Kelly and I are so excited to be back and so very happy about our new class.  It's made up of some new and returning faces (including some siblings of past students).  After day one together, it seems like it's going to be a great year!

Here are a couple quick reminders to help make your year in Division 2 successful:

  • This blog is updated after 9pm on Monday nights.  It will contain information about the class, due dates, assignments, and reminders.
  • Email is the best way to get in touch with both Miss Kelly and Mrs. Soper.
  • A class letter will be given out at the Meet the Teacher night on Wednesday.  A copy will go home with students who did not attend on Thursday.
  • Get enough sleep.  8 - 10 hours.
  • Bring healthy snacks to school.  Students are allowed to snack throughout the day as needed.
We are looking forward to meeting all the new families to our classroom in the coming weeks.  Welcome back to school and welcome to Division 2.
