Ted Talks & To Do Lists

We spent some time over the last two weeks talking about Mindfulness.  We've discussed how the brain works - file cabinets and pathways - and strategies to control stress.  Things like deep breathing, positive self talk, a walk or sip of water, or even a snack can help you talk your amygdala down and help you refocus, but it turns out that stress is not all bad.  We watched the following Ted Talk:

Caring will be a major part of our classroom's stress management and we hope to share that caring in the community.  We'd love volunteer ideas, so please share if you have any ideas.

The kids are working on their Day I Was Born project for Social Studies.  All project sheets need to be signed by tomorrow and the kids need a plan of how they are going to keep track of their notes.  Hints about the project:

  • Don't miss any points!  Use the To Do List to ensure that you have all the necessary elements.
  • Be sure that your kids keep track of their sources on bibme.org AS THEY RESEARCH! Internet source notations include a date that they were accessed and thus cannot be found at the end of the project.
  • Be creative and have fun!
Don't forget to sign up to Remind.com this week so we can start sending you some photos!
