Continuity of Learning

Hello Students and Families of Division 1!

Welcome to our new Continuity of Learning community!   We have really enjoyed connecting with everyone over the last week.  It’s so nice to see faces and get some feedback about how you are all doing and what your needs are.

While things are changing frequently, we know that a schedule might make life a little easier.  We will confirm the schedule each week and use the Teams calendar to invite the students to our online meetings, but so far our schedule will be as follows:

Monday Meeting 11:30am via Teams
-        -In this meeting we will check in with each other.  Please turn off your video and microphone during the meeting.  Ms. Kelly and Mrs. Soper will give each person an opportunity to talk at some point, so the students will get to see everyone.

-          -Ms. Kelly & Mrs. Soper will review the assignments for the week.  Our focus will be Literacy & Numeracy as outlined in the Ministry’s plan.  We will start slowly, and add more in the coming weeks.  As per the Ministry of Education, you should expect 5-7 hours of work per week.
-
-We will also suggest some additional learning opportunities in case you are feeling motivated, interested, or just want to try something new!

Office Hours – Tues. 2-3 (Soper), Wed. 3-4 (Kelly), Thurs. 2-3 (Soper)
-        -  During these hours, Ms. Kelly and Mrs. Soper will be available to help you with your assignments, answer any questions, or just check in.  In Teams, you can see our availability (and everyone’s availability) by the coloured circle in the corner of our face.  If it’s red, it means we are already meeting with someone else.  Send us a chat, or email letting us know that you want to chat, or just call once we are free again.

-         - Don’t forget, you can still email us at any time.  We will be answering our VSB email and are happy to communicate that way too.

-          We are also available for formal video meetings outside of Office Hours, just send us an invitation or an email.

We are just trying this out.  We may find it needs to be adjusted in the coming weeks.  Don’t worry too much if this sounds confusing.  We will walk the kids through this on Monday morning, and it will continue to get easier as we use the technology more.   If there is anything we can do to further support you or your family, please let us know.

See you on Teams on Monday!
